Here is the collection for Cooking With Seeds-June 2012: Black Gram event, created by Priya of Priya's Versatile Recipes . Vigna Mungo / Black Gram / Urad Dal/ Udad Dal/ Uzhunnu was the ingredient. Medu Vada/ Uzhunnu Vada and Kali Dal/ Dal Makhani were popular contributions.

Black Gram Recipes
Supriya of Supriya's Rasoi brings us soft fluffy Idli's.

and its companion, Medu Vada .
Preethi, who blogs at  Follow Foodie offers another batch of  Urad Dhal Fritters/ Methu Vadai.
A very tasty condiment for rice  and South Indian breads and crepes would be Lakshmi's Minapappu Pachadi/ Urad Dal Chutney, who blogs at Passionate Chef.

We have two versions of the favourite and very popular Kaali Dal / Dal Makhani, one from Shobha who blogs at Food Maaza and
Anjana of   Maayeka  presents this rich and satisfying, Daal Makhani.
Vidya of My Recipes  presents delicious Karuppu Ulundu Kachori/ Black Gram Kachori. And here are a slew of entries from the Versatile Lady herself! She has sent in these very innovative recipes, using whole, unskinned black gram.

How about a lunch with Rice and Ajwain Urad Dal Paratha  accompanied with a very healthy, Whole Urad Dal Sundal,  Raw Papaya and Urad Dal Kootu,  Urad Tamatar Dal  and  Dry Turkey Berries Spice Powder.
My entries are:
  • A deep fried, golden -hued batter of black gram, seasoned with salt and crushed black pepper, the Uzhunnu Vada.
  • The traditional South Indian breakfast item, the Idli  with the fermented, steamed rice and black gram batter.
