Spicy Baked Cauliflower Florets-VFAM-Cauliflower

A friendly reminder to fellow bloggers to send in their entries for VFAM-Cauliflower event hosted here until September 30.

This is a very simple Cauliflower recipe. Served as an appetizer with Mint and Coriander Chutney or as a side-dish with rotis. It uses only 4 ingredients: Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder and Vegetable Oil. It also gives you the satisfying taste of the true original, which is  made easier by baking it in the oven. It goes to the VFAM-Cauliflower event, hosted here at TiffinCarrier Antic/ques!

Ingredients
1 medium-sized cauliflower, broken into florets
Turmeric-1/4 tsp
Red Chilli powder/ Cayenne Powder- 1 tsp [ or according to preference]
Salt-3/4 tsp
Vegetable Oil -2-3 tbsps
Chopped coriander for garnish

Method
Break the cauliflower into large florets,
Wash and rinse thoroughly,
Arrange on a steamer plate and steam for 5 minutes

Make a marinade with the above spice mix and oil
Pour it over the steamed cauliflower florets
Spread out in a single layer on a baking tray

Heat the oven to 475 F
Bake for 15 -20 minutes/ until golden
Serve with coriander- mint chutney

  7. Lovely gorgeous florets !!!
Steaming makes them luscious from inside , otherwise they tend to get dry i have seen...a perfect thing to wrap in my chapati :)

  9. Thankyou Raji, Sangeeta, Priya and Chandrani!
Thanks Sangeeta- yes, I tried to get the same texture as for the subzi we make- sauteing in oil and then cooking covered, on low heat, increasing the heat towards the end to get a slight crisp edge.:-)
